Lt Thomas Q Kimball to test APRS durring USAF Civil Air Patrol Flight July 5TH 2009
Lt Thomas Q Kimball member of the USAF Civil Air Patrol 399th Danbury Composite Squadron out of Danbury Airport in Danbury,CT is going up in the USAF Civil Air Patrol Airplane July 5th for scanner training and also to test out an Amateur Radio APRS Automatic Packet Reporting System which will track this flight from your home computer or at the local squadron headquaters at Danbury Airport. You should be able to look under WA8UNS-14 WA8UNS-14 with a google search if the test goes well. This flight is part of Long Island Sound Patrol.Lt Kimball first joined CAP in 1988 and got his 2nd Lt rank back since 1993. And got his U.S. Amateur Radio license in 2005.Lt. Kimball belives that APRS would work well in Search and Rescue(SAR)operations.
